In this practical, face-to-face training session you will learn the skills needed to perform basic life support. By the end of the session you will be able to demonstrate:

* An awareness of the benefits of early intervention for a non-breathing casualty.

* How to perform CPR and use an AED on a non breathing casualty.

* How to place a breathing casualty into the recovery position.

* How to pass a casualty over to the emergency services.

Content covered in this session includes:

* Chain of survival.

* Incident and casualty assessment.

* Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR).

* Using an Automated External Defibrillator (AED).

* Placing a casualty who show signs of life into the recovery position.

* Bespoke section: How to support a casualty who is choking.

Basic Life Support training is made up of two parts; theory and practical. You must have completed the Florence Basic Life Support (Theory) course prior to attending the training session. You will not be able to participate in this practical session otherwise. The theory courses provide you with the knowledge you need before completing the practical session.

This course is most suitable for those who have a specific responsibility in or outside of work to provide basic life support. For example, care assistant, senior care assistant, or nurse. This course also contributes towards CPD and mandatory training requirements you need to meet.

Proof of Identification: You must bring ID with them to this course. This can be a valid photocard driving licence, bank card, national ID card etc.

Suitable Clothing: The assessments involve bending, kneeling and practical activities on the floor. Therefore, you must wear suitable, comfortable clothing and footwear.

Physical Ability: There are practical assessments. The ability to perform all aspects of the assessments is required. Anyone unable to kneel on the floor to carry out the assessments will be unable to attend the course.
